Creating backing tracks was something I did for years before the days where you could easily download MIDI files online. The producer at Likewise Studios asked me to create 5 backing tracks from covers, for one of his customers to use it in the recordings, and also to perform live. It was a lot of work, and must have been the only Country style music I ever made! It was done on my using my Roland D20 keyboard as controller, and Roland SC880 sound module. I remember taking the SC880 to his studio, to render the music from the line outs as I used patches that were customized.
